A pastoral resident will spend the majority of their time working alongside a pastoral mentor, who will be a staff member of a Partner Church. The role of the Ministry Mentor is to coach, disciple, evaluate, and develop the pastoral resident in their area of ministry.

Under the guidance of the Ministry Mentor, a pastoral resident will work within a specific ministry of a church. Depending on the nature of that ministry some of the experiences they will have the opportunity to work in are as follows:

Lead team meetings

Recruit volunteers

Lead a small group

Disciple at least one person

Teach/preach to a large group

Take a mission trip

Lead worship

Plan ministry events

Plan budgets for events

Shadow a pastor doing a wedding, funeral, baptism, hospital visit

Develop leadership lessons for volunteer staff

Give evangelistic messages with an invitation
